At NHL University of Applied Sciences, the focus is on your professionalism. During the exchange period, you will get the chance to work on assignments provided by the business community, the government or other organisations. Work placement programmes can be part of the curriculum for students who are studying to become a teacher. NHL cooperates with many companies, regionally oriented as well as multinationals.

Educational concept
In contrast to many countries, NHL University of Applied Sciences believes students bear the primary responsibility for their own learning process, guided and supervised by lecturers. The lecturer does not fill the traditional role of the teacher, but instead tutors the students, helps them in the processes they go through, and monitors their progress.
Much learning is done through working on projects, which serves to show the student how the different fields of knowledge, competences and skills integrate in real-life work situations. This way, students gain a good grasp of the professional qualities that they are expected to have once they graduate.
