Competences

The Joint Module stimulates students to train and develop the following three compe-tences of a qualified social worker:

  • the ability to describe, analyze and interpret situations and backgrounds of various clients (individuals, groups and communities) on micro, mesa and macro level (NL competence 1).
  • the ability to contribute to the development, adjustment and implementation of in-stitution- and government policy (NL competence 4).
  • the ability to put into perspective the own national and cultural environment, re-sulting in contextual consciousness and international awareness (competence, due to the extra bilateral dimension of the Joint Module)

At the end of the Joint Module students have achieved the following three learning outcomes, to be proved by products:

  • description and analyses of the situation, problems and position of a specific social group, and the social policy toward it, in local communities of comparable size in Ontario and The Netherlands
  • a comparison of the outcomes in Ontario and The Netherlands, focusing on simi-larities and differences, and what can be learned from it
