Bachelor/Master structure
At all the Dutch universities of professional education, so also at the NHL University of applies Science, bachelor education is provided. After graduation you hold the title of bachelor.
Master's study
Subsequently you may opt for a master’s study at a university. Some master’s degrees can be taken at a university of professional education. This bama-structure allows you more choice: a completed bachelor’s study provides admission to a wide array of masters’ studies.
International certificate
With the bachelor’s degree you own an internationally valid certificate. All over Europe the bama-structure is being introduced, allowing a better comparison between the level and contents of the various certificates. In principle a Portuguese bachelor possesses the same knowledge and skills as a U.K. or Dutch one. This makes it easier to study abroad or to apply for a foreign job.
European Credits
By following a professional education programme, you gather study points, a certain number of points per module. The bama structure applies ECTS, European Credit Transfer System, in which the study points are termed ECs – European Credits.
One EC stands for the same for all European students, viz 28 hours of study load.
One study year comprises 60 ECs and a complete 4-year course counts 240 ECs.
In the academic year 2004-2005 the bama structure and ECTS were introduced at the MIWB.
