The study Maritime Officer is from of old directed on functions aboard of Merchant Shipping. As a part of this study the institute provides for a long time past the dredging specialisation. This is proposed to Maritime Officers who want to be employed in the dredging industry.

To prepare students for this specialized branche the Maritime Institute has developed this specialisation.
In this branch there are even more needed graduated bachelor Maritime Officers. So there is a lot of employment in sailing and non-sailing careers.

Examples are nautical, technical and supporting tasks in land reclamation and dredging projects at sea and in harbours.
