ECDIS

Course content
The course is based on the IMO model course 1.27.(The Operational Use of Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems). In the ECDIS course we will be using the book: “The Electronic Chart” from (Hecht, Berking, Buttgenbach, Jonas, Alexander".

Course participant is after completion of the course able to:
• Operate and understand the ECDIS equipment.
• Use the navigation functions from the ECDIS equipment.
• Selecting and viewing relevant information and making the
right decisions, also when the ECDIS system is not working
properly.
• Recognize the restrictions from ECDIS systems.
• Explain and understand why the ECDIS system is not the
sole navigation system used on vessels.
