Mission
The mission of the Chair is to contribute to safety in Cyberspace. The Chair fulfills it’s mission by conducting high quality, independent and applied research. The Chair, which started in 2008, intends to become a leading centre of expertise in Cybersafety within two years from its inception.
The Chairholder
Wouter Ph. Stol is Chairholder. At the same time he is leader of the research programme Police and ICT at the Police Academy of the Netherlands. Hence, he is a professor in policing at the Open University. He has been a police officer and has a PhD degree in Sociology. Throughout the years, he has written many publications on policing, especially police patrol work, the use of information, and related safety topics.
Objectives
The main goals of the Chair are:
- To give substance to a consistent cybersafety research program;
- To realise a structural and substantial input in safety education at NHL University;
- To realise a contribution to the level of knowledge about Cybersafety for Safety and Security practioners in Holland and abroad;
- Placing NHL University on the map as a centre of expertise regarding to cybersafety, at both a national and international level;
Themes
The research program of the Chair is built around the following research themes:
- Trends in cybercrime;
- Youth and cybersafety;
- Companies and cybersafety.
